There is some discussion on the Indonesian government side about pursuing a joint World Heritage nomination with India and other countries.

From the Indonesian government's perspective, I think that if Indonesia succeeds in nominating Muaro Jambi on its own, the third and fifth proposals would likely be set aside. The fourth proposal seems too broad and geographically dispersed to be a practical nomination. As for the second proposal, all of the Indonesian components are already part of existing World Heritage properties, so there may be little incentive for Indonesia to pursue it.

The first proposal is the one that catches my attention the most because it includes the Batujaya temple complex. Although the temples are relatively small, there are many of them spread across a large area, and they represent the oldest known Buddhist temple complex in Indonesia. However, it is still unclear how strong the connection is between Batujaya and the proposed sites in the other countries, whether in terms of architectural similarities, chronology, or the broader spread of Buddhism across the Indian Ocean
