For those who have interest in visiting THE CITADEL OF THE HO (thanh nha ho) from Ninh Binh.
I have found following prices today: car with driver
Duc Tuan Hotel 125 USD
The Long 80 USD
Thu Guest House 45 USD
And the person from Thu was the only one who knew about what he was talking.

Regarding Yen Tu TWHS and the Perfume Pagoda: both Zoe & myself in our reviews have placed it within the Yen Tu TWHS area. But in our whatsapp group this morning Joel has put that into doubt: it lies south of Hanoi instead of east & there's no mention of it in the documentation at the UNESCO website.

I remember having researched it before my trip, but the Vietnamese names make it confusing.

It may be part of the Huong Son Complex instead.

Any opinions?

I'm quite certain Yen Tu is an update for the Huong Son Complex so both are actually the same. From the Yen Tu document:

"The Complex of Yen Tu Monuments and Landscape is located on the Dong Trieu range, at the intersection of two provinces: Quang Ninh and Bac Giang."

Place it on the map and you get to the same area as the Perfume Pagoda.

Unless I misunderstood your post.

The Perfume Pagoda is here, southwest of Hanoi: https://www.lonelyplanet.com/vietnam/attractions/perfume-pagoda/a/poi-sig/1142330/357846

Yen Tu, indeed bordering Quang Ninh and Bac Giang, is east of Hanoi.

Or are there 2 Perfume Pagodas?

Yeah, the Perfume Pagoda (at least the famous one everyone visits from Hanoi) is in My Duc province, not Quang Ninh or Bac Giang. As Els said, there's a separate tentative listing added in 1991 that covers the Huang Son complex, which the "Perfume Pagoda" is part of. Just want to make sure we end up at the right place on our trip 😂

Oh right that is true, Yen Tu is where all the Korean bus tours go to and you ride the cable car. So I guess our reviews were for Huang Son.

So I guess our reviews were for Huang Son.

I'll change the reference to it in mine, my visit was to Vinh Nghiem which is in Yen Tu (Bac Giang).
Shall I move yours?

Yes please, I already updated it with the removal of "Yen Tu".

After all that, we never ended up visiting the Yen Tu site. I was interested in visiting the Yen Tu Mountains, and could see some tours visiting from Hanoi. But upon arriving in Hanoi, I found that they were either not running at this time of year or we'd have to book the whole bus and it'd be expensive (we didn't even get to how much). The best time to visit the site is in January or February, in the lead up to Tet, when it's very popular as a pilgrimage site and there's regular trips running. Also more ideal weather conditions for climbing! The other alternative would be to stay in Halong, before or after a Halong Bay Cruise, as it's a lot closer and organise a driver from there. I also found out you can get dropped off by the buses from Hanoi to Halong, but it's 4 hours, so pushing it for a day trip.

We instead considered visiting the closer pagoda that Els visited, but weren't quite up to chancing it on public transport and walking in the 38C heat. Our hotel found a driver, but it would have been 88 USD, so we skipped. Couldn't see much progress yet being made with the listing (so who knows if or when), and we can always return to Hanoi if it is added.

A few more heads up on Vietnam sites:

* Thanks tonylag for the heads up for booking a driver to Ho Citadel via Thu Guest House. The current price is 50 USD. I organised it quickly and easy via Facebook messenger, and the driver was good and knew where to go.
* A great option we discovered for My Son only after visiting The Sinh Tourist office in Hoi An. They also do sunrise tours. 130k dong instead of the usual 99k dong, but our bus group were the only ones there apart from another small group and it was a lot cooler first thing in the morning. Pick up from hotel around 4:30, then you get back to Hoi An around 9:30. You don't actually get sun rise at the site though, it's probably during the bus trip there. It's about a 30 seater bus, the only downside the aircon wasn't working fully.

From the Bubbling Under list:
Con Moon Cave - is in the Upstream Process and of April 2024 they intend to start working on a nomination dossier
https://vietnamnews.vn/life-style/1653717/experts-work-to-have-con-moong-cave-recognised-by-unesco.html

Like Oc Eo - Ba above, it all sounds very long-term (start planning to prepare..., seeking funds). After 2028 I would say.
Cu Chi tunnels (also above) first has to get on the T List.
