The Office of International Affairs (National Park Service) has been abolished. My primary contact within the department has been pushed toward early retirement.

The Civil Rights Movement Sites nomination dossier which is nearly (if not fully) complete, is on HOLD. Unless the Department of the Interior makes a decision to approve it soon, I suspect it will be set aside. The Department of Interior has already stated World Heritage is not a priority. No new nominations are likely to be approved until at least 2030 and an updated Tentative List is delayed indefinitely.

Tragic and infuriating.

US ICOMOS, now called World Heritage USA is not funded by the Federal Government, thus it has not been on the 'chopping block' so to speak. They are also not particularly restricted by the current administration regarding activities or agenda (as far as I can see). Just a few weeks ago World Heritage USA participated in the 'Regional Scientific Symposium of the Americas' in Mexico.

"Presentations were based on the themes of cultural and natural heritage in regional development, transborder heritage in the Americas, migration in border contexts and ICOMOS in the Americas 60th anniversary."

As you can see, there is no alignment with priorities of the White House with World Heritage USA. In fact, completing the El Camino Real de Tierra Adentro world heritage site was much discussed.

These are the 11 National Parks that will have the $100 surcharge per person. Annual Passes will be $250 for non-residents.

Acadia National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Everglades National Park, Glacier National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Grand Teton National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks, Yellowstone National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Zion National Park.

I have now updated the Connections accordingly: withdrawal of the Commandment Star from Yellowstone and Yosemite, addition of foreigner pricing to the ones in bold in winterkjm's original post.

If you're a non-resident and are planning a trip, look at this handy overview: https://www.nps.gov/aboutus/entrance-fee-prices.htm?park=&state=&entrancePassRequired

Quick update in regards to US nominations after some of my inquires were answered. Okefenokee has not been withdrawn, so it should move forward as normal. Secondly, the Civil Rights Movement Sites nomination is not ready for 2027. I am not informed regarding if the Department of Interior in the US would decline or approve the submission of a nomination dossier in the future.
